Duleep Trophy advanced due to Pak tour

Mumbai:The dates of this season's Duleep Trophy tournament, which will feature Bangladesh and the five zonal teams, have been advanced by ten days and the tournament would be held from February 15-March 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced today.

The tournament dates have been brought forward "in order to give the Indian players better exposure in the longer version of the game prior to the Test matches against Pakistan," BCCI Joint Secretary Ratnakar Shetty said in a release here.

The Pakistan squad is set to visit the country from the last week of February to play three Tests and five one-day internationals.

Originally, the Duleep Trophy was scheduled from February 25-March 22 in central zone.The one-day knock-out tournament has been put off by two months and will now be held in Mumbai from April 8-14, the release added.

The dates of other domestic tournaments - the one-day tournament league, the Deodhar Trophy and the N K P Salve Challenger Trophy remain same (RPT remain same) while those of the Ranji Trophy semi-finals and final have been altered (RPT have been altered).

Revised Duleep Trophy schedule is: Feb 15-18: North Zone v West Zone, Kanpur; East Zone v Central Zone, Bikaner. Feb 22-25: West Zone v South Zone, Kanpur; East Zone vBangladesh, Nagpur. Mar 1-4: North Zone v South Zone, Indore; Central Zone v Bangladesh, Jaipur. Mar 8-12: Final, Nagpur.
