Sydney:Cricket Australia (CA) has rescheduled a round of Pura Cup matches to allow six Australian players to participate in three promotional games being staged in New Zealand because of the early departure of Sri Lanka from that country due to the tsunami disaster.

According to a Cricket Australia release, they have given the nod to cricketers Matthew Elliott, Ian Harvey, Shane Warne, Andy Bichel, Justin Langer and Michael Bevan so that they can take part in the New Zealand tournament.

CA chief executive officer James Sutherland said the International Cricket Council, New Zealand Cricket and the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations had sought the assistance of ICC member countries in helping New Zealand schedule promotional games to replace the series Sri Lanka could no longer play because of the tsunami tragedy.

"Rescheduling the 27-30 January round of Pura Cup games to 28-31 January will allow Australian players being sought for New Zealand games on 22, 24 and 26 January to take part in those games," he said.
