Ahmedabad:A fine all-round display by Ajit Agarkar helped Mumbai beat Gujarat by 69 runs in a one-day Ranji Trophy league match played at Sardar Patel Stadium Motera here today.

Put in to bat, Mumbai batsmen Vinayak Mane 62 and Amol Mazumdar (70) and Vinayak Mane (62) helped their team score scored 246 for six in 50 overs. Agarkar chipped in with a valuable unbeaten 40 and later took six Gujarat wickets.

Gujarat were never really in the chase as openers Akash Christian (1) and Parthiv Patel (0) were dismissed cheaply.

Niraj Patel tried to recue his team, scoring 76 runs but his efforts went in vain as the other batsmen meekly caved in against some fiery bowling by Agarkar who took six wickets.

In the end the hosts could just manage 176.

Earlier, Mumbai opener Mane gave a good start to the team and hit six boundaries in his 62-run knock. The other opener Wasim Jaffer however went back to the pavilion after he scored 19 runs. He was caught by Akash Christian off Lalit Patel.

Vineet Indulkar also could not open his account but Amol salvaged the situation scoring 70 runs with eight boundaries.

For Gujarat Lalit Patel and Kalpesh Patel took two wickets each.
