Karnataka notch impressive win

Panaji:Karnataka kept themselves in the reckoning as they scored an impressive 133-run win over Andhra and gained five points, including a bonus point, to raise their hopes of qualifying for the final round of the South Zone Ranji Trophy one-day cricket tournament at Panjim Gymkhana ground here today.

Put in to bat, Karnataka piled up 287 for seven wickets in their alloted 50 overs with Rowland Barrington (86) and Sujit Somsunder (69) being the major scorers.

Saraswati Reddy was the most successful bowler for Andhra taking four wickets while D Kalyan Krishna, Hemal Vatekar and K Nagaganadar took one wicket each.

In reply, Andhra was bundled out for paltry 154 in 46.5 overs with only K Nagagandar (40) and Vikram Verma (35) putting some resistence.

D Ganesh scalped four wickets for Karnataka while Sunil Joshi took three wickets.
