Fund-strapped Windies begin Cup training

Bridgetown:Amidst growing concern over their participation in the forthcoming women's World Cup in March owing to lack of funds, the West Indies women's team will kickstart a ten-day World Cup training camp on Friday.

According to West Indies Women's Cricket Federation sources, a squad of eighteen players will assemble in Trinidad and undergo extensive training notwithstanding the uncertainty hanging over making it to the big-ticket event.

The West Indies women's cricket board had held parleys with the WICB who have assured them of assistance.

The squad: S Power (capt), S de Silva, I Goordial, F Cummings, M Billingy, N Williams, J Chadee, P Lavine, C Jack, A Mohammed, V Felicien, J Robisnon, J Nero, K Alexander, P Thomas, N George, DA Lewis.
