Zaheer offers to help Tsunami victims

Shiroor:Cricketers Zaheer Khan and Aashish Kapoor on Saturday said that they would co-sponsor education and other requirements of ten Tsunami student-victims from the affected areas of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, the Andaman and Nicobar islands and Kerala in association with a school in Shiroor till standard XII.

They said the students would be provided for free education, boarding, lodging, books and uniforms in association with Green Valley National School having residential facility in this town in Udupi district.

The cricketers were in Shiroor in connection with the annual sports day celebrations of the school as well as to help the institution in the relief-fund collection.

The school's Principal Lt Col JA Rocque (Retd.) said Coorg Public School, Gonikopal, had agreed to provide hostel and other facilities to five students at concessional rates, while the remaining five would be admitted in some other reputed residential schools of international standard.

According to Zaheer, a match between Asia-XI and World-XI would be played at Kolkata on February 12 to raise funds for Tsunami victims.
