Bangalore:Indian colts put up a dominating batting performance against England U-19 on the opening day of the first four-day Test at the M. Chinaswamy Stadium here.

India colts owe their solid position to openers Robin Uthappa (59) and Shikar Dhawan (69) who strung together 95-runs to help hosts wrest the initiative straightway.

Skipper A T Rayudu scored a fine 68 clubbing three sixes and five fours in his 185-minute essay, facing 175 balls, before being consumed by A Miller at mid-on off M Stokes.

Vice-Captain Manoj Tiwari added was embroiled in a 69 run stand for the fifth wicket with Rayudu as both ensured they did not mess up on the good work done by the openers. Tiwari scored 42.

When stumps were drawn, Pinal Shah (17) and Harvinder Singh (14) were at the crease. Miller was the most successful bowler for England claiming 2 for 56.

Brief Scores: India U-19: 311/six in 93 overs (Robin Uthappa 59, Shikar Dhawan 69, A T Rayudu 68, Manoj Tiwary 42, A Miller 2/56).
