Colombo:Sri Lankan selectors have picked two uncapped quick bowlers Channaka Welagedera and Nandika Ranjith in a 24-man training squad for their rescheduled two Test tour of New Zealand in April.

The 23-year-old Welagedera earned a call-up after performing impressively for the Sri Lanka cricket academy in its tours of Sharjah and Bangladesh late last year while Nandika Ranjith has been pushing hard for selection after a series of stellar performances, bagging first-class 210 scalps in 54 matches at an average of 25.75.

Sri Lanka will head for New Zealand at the end of March and play a three-day warm-up match before the first Test. The original tour was scrapped after the devastation caused by the tsunami which killed over 40,000 people on the island.
