Bridgetown:The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) expects to lose about $5 million in 2005 after two years of profits.

The cricket board said it the scheduled tours by South Africa and Pakistan would bring in 70 per cent less revenue from television broadcasting rights than lucrative England's tour of the region last year.

The board had laughed all the way to the bank last season, recording a $3 million profit, largely helped by the England visit to the Carribean. Strangely, despite the profits, the board was often unable to cough up players for months after international tours, adding to frosty relations between the board and the West Indies Players Association.
