Karachi:Coming down heavily on controversial paceman Shoaib Akhtar, former Pakistan Test captain Mushtaq Muhammed has said that he was not vital' for forthcoming tour of India.

Speaking to reporters here, Mushtaq said the Pakistan team could be better off without Shoaib.

He said discipline was key to the success adding he (Shoaib Akhtar) had no self-control and discipline in him.

He emphasized that there should be no place for unfit and undisciplined bowlers when there were so many young pacemen around whom the selectors could try out in the upcoming tour of India.

He lambasted Shoaib's attitude during the tour of Australia and added that without Shoaib the world was not going to end.

He felt that youngsters like Salman Butt, Yasir Hameed, Kamran Akmal and Taufeeq Umar were good prospects for the future and should be given a fair run.
