Jamshedpur:Union Water Resoruces Minister Priya Ranjan Das Munshi has assured Pakistan that the Indian government would provide adequate security to its cricket team in all venues including Ahmedabad during its tour of India beginning later this month.

Das Munshi, who was here to campaign for Congress-JMM alliance candidates for the assembly polls, told newsmen that he did not see any reason for Pakistan's denial to play inAhmedabad, venue of a match between the two neighbours, on security reasons.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan had said on February 6 that the Board had reservations over playing any match in Ahmedabad due to 'political reasons' sparking sharp reactions from various quarters.

But the PCB yesterday did a volte face saying the reservations over Ahmedabad were not due to political reasons but based on security concerns. The Board termed reports thatit did not not want to play a match in the capital city of Gujarat due to political reasons as 'speculative'.
