Harare:Zimbabwe's middle-order Dion Ebrahim has been axed from the 14-member national side for the forthcoming tour of South Africa beginning next week.

The right-hander endured a wretched run with the bat in the just-concluded One-day series in Bangladesh, scoring only 28 runs in four innings with a top score of 26 in the second match.

Top-order batsman Vusumuzi Sibanda, and medium-pacer Mluleki Nkala have also been dropped from the South Africa-bound squad.

Off-spinner Gavin Ewing who made his ODI debut against England in November last year, makes a return to the side.

18-year old left-handed batsman Sean Williams is only the real surprise in the squad. Williams, who represented Zimbabwe at the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh last year was picked largely on the strength of his consistent performances for Zimbabwe.

SQUAD: Tatenda Taibu (capt/wkt), Douglas Hondo, Tawanda Mupariwa, Sean Williams, Gavin Ewing, Christopher Mpofu, Tinashe Panyangara, Elton Chigumbura, Prosper Utseya, Barney Rogers, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Hamilton Masakadza, Graeme Cremer and Brendan Taylor.
