Steve Waugh keen to invest in West Bengal

Kolkata:Former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh has expressed his willingness to invest in Infrastructure sector in West Bengal.

Waugh, who met chief secretary Ashok Gupta here today, has expressed his desire in this regard.

"Steve Waugh had a meeting with me. He is interested in investing in the areas of township, roads and hospital projects in the state", Gupta told newsmen.

The chief secretary said he had advised Waugh to talk to the KMDA officials, a meeting for which had been scheduled for tomorrow.

A representative of Macquarie Bank Limited of Australia accompanied Waugh, dressed in off-white shirt and dark trousers.

The former Aussie skipper, who had reached the state secretariat before the scheduled time given for appointment, waited in the office of under-secretary (home) Santanu Basu.

He also signed autographs at the request of secretariat staff.
