Mumbai::Shiv Sena has strongly opposed the upcoming cricket series between India and Pakistan scheduled to begin next month, when the latter will be playing in thecountry after a gap of over six years.

Playing cricket with Pakistan is shameful. Call back our soldiers from the border to guard the Pakistani cricket team and give awards to them from the hands of the family members of soldiers who died for the cause of the country," Shiv SenaExecutive President Uddhav Thackeray told reporters after afunction at suburban Borivali yesterday.

"We should be ashamed that even as Indian soldiers are dying while fighting in border areas we are eagerly looking forward to the series," Uddhav said.

"Even the Sena chief has not changed his stand in this connection," he said referring to the party supremo Bal Thackeray.

Uddhav further said that India should not maintain any contact with Pakistan, "Don't you love your country," he added.

He refused to divulge Sena's plan during the cricket series.
