Dinesh Mongia to lead Punjab in Ranji semi-final

Mumbai:Test discard Dinesh Mongia would lead the 15-strong Punjab team against holders Mumbai in the five-day Ranji Trophy elite division semi-final to be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from March 18.

The Punjab squad would miss the services of Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh who are part of the national team taking on Pakistan in the second Test at Kolkata commencing on Wednesday.

The Punjab team has already reached Mumbai and is playing a few warm-up games prior to the needle clash against the home team.

The Mumbai squad has been strengthened by the availability of captain Sairaj Bahutule who missed the last few league matches because of a hamstring injury.

The list of rival teams released by the Mumbai Cricket Association is as follows:

Punjab: Dinesh Mongia (capt), Pankaj Dharmani, Gagandeep Singh, Reetinder Sodhi, Ravneet Ricky, V R V Singh, Amit Uniyal, Rajesh Sharma, Vaneet Sharma, Manish Sharma, Ankur Kakkar, Sandeep Sanwal, Gaurav Gupta, Navdeep Singh and Chandan Madani.

Coach: Intikhab Alam.

Mumbai: Sairaj Bahutule (capt), Wasim Jaffer, Vinayak Mane Amol Muzumdar, Ajit Agarkar (vice-capt), Vinayak Samant, Nilesh Kulkarni, Vinit Indulkar, Nishit Shetty, Ramesh Powar, Avishkar Salvi, Bhavin Thakkar, Abhijit Shetye, Wilkin Mota and Usman Malvi.

Coach: Chandrakant Pandit.

Umpires: R Subramaniyam (Karnataka) and Balwant Sharma(Rajasthan).

Match referee: Subrata Banerjee.
