BCCI amasses earnings of Rs 131.57 crore

New Delhi:The cash-rich Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had amassed earnings of Rs 131.57 crore out of which Rs 46 crore were earned from the telecast rights in the financial year 2003-04, according to Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sunil Dutt.

This information was furnished in the Rajya Sabha by Mr Dutt in a written reply.

While income went up to Rs 131.57 crore in 2003-04 from Rs 107.38 crore in 2002-03, expenses declined to Rs 91.06 crore from Rs 109.74 crore leaving higher surplus with the board, according to him.

It raised Rs 15.52 crore from Sahara India in return for using the company's logo by cricketers, he added.

The income from the Sahara India for use of their logo drastically came down to Rs 15.52 crore in 2003-04 from Rs 25.13 crore.

The sponsorship money was Rs 138 crore in 2003-04 as against Rs 8.50 crore in the previous year.
