Brits stars in South Africa thrilling win over WI

Pretoria:South African all-rounder Cri-Zelda Brits did the star-turn as the hosts pulled off a thrilling one-run victory over West Indies in the women's World CUP at the Laudium Oval here.

Brits first scored a solid 72 in her team's score of 169 and came back to effect the major damage with the ball when she rattled Windies with a devastating burst of 4 for 36 which put paid to the hopes of the Carribeans who had got off to a decent start in pursuit of 170 for victory.

J Nero top-scored for the Windies with 41 even as rest of the batswomen failed to prosper.

Earlier, Philippa Thomas was turned in a splendid effort with the ball as she sliced through the South African batting order claiming figures of 4 for 35 from her stipulated nine overs to bundle out the hosts for 169 off 49 overs.
