Chennai:Former Cricket Board Chief Jagmohan Dalmiya today claimed that he had attended the meeting of the International Crickcet Council on March 17 in his capacity as a Director of the world body.

In a counter affidavit filed in a city civil court in response to a contempt application filed against his attending the meeting, Dalmiya said he had attended the ICC executive committee meeting in his capacity as a director.

Meanwhile, the VIth City Civil court Judge Mohideen Pitchai posted the contempt application for hearing to April 12 after ICC counsel S S Ray sought time to file a counter on behalf of ICC Chief Eshan Mani, who was also issued notice in connection with the contempt proceedings.

The contempt application against Dalmiya was filed by a local club Sir Theagaraya Club.

On January 25 the court had restrained BCCI from nominating Dalmiya as its representative. But after Dalmiya attended the meeting, the Club had moved the court to initiate a contempt proceeding against him and the BCCI secretary S K Nair.

The Judge then issued notice to Dalmiya and Nair in connection with the contempt petition.
