Mumbai:Opener Vinayak Mane and wicket keeper Vinayak Samant got the sack for Mumbai's failure to defend their Ranji Trophy crown successfully as both were excluded from the dethroned national champions's squad for the All India One-day knock-out tournament to be held here from April 8-14.

Mane was the regular opener along with Wasim Jaffer while Samant had kept wickets for the entire season and was also being touted in some quarters as worthy of an India cap for his good work behind the stumps and ability to bat well.

Sairaj Bahutule was expectedly named to lead the squad with Ajit Agarkar as his deputy, a release from Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Lalchand Rajput said here today.

Samant's place behind the stumps would be taken by either Abhijit Shetye or Manish Bangera, Rajput said adding, either of these two players would open the innings with Jaffer.

The 36-time Ranji champions' endeavour to add another national title to their impressive collection was derailed by Punjab at the semi final stage.

Two matches would be held per day at Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium, Rajput added.

Mumbai one-day squad: Sairaj Bahutule (capt), Ajit Agarkar (vice-capt), Wasim Jaffer, Abhijit Shetye, Vinit Indulkar, Amol Muzumdar, Nishit Shetty, Nilesh Kulkarni, Wilkin Mota, Avishkar Salvi, Usmal Malvi, Bhavin Thakkar, Praful Waghela, Manish Bangera and Ramesh Powar. Coach: Chandrakant Pandit.
