Sachin, Sourav to play in Gursharan benefit tie

New Delhi:Indian cricket's leading lights-Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, MS Dhoni, Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh, Mohd Kaif will turn out in a Tendulkar XI-Ganguly XI or Dravid XI benefit match for former International Gursharan Singh at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground here on Tuesday.

Speedsters Irfan Pathan, Ashish Nehra, opener Gautam Gambhir, offie Harbhajan Singh, S Sriram and Murali Karthik have also confirmed their participation.

It's worth recalling that Gursharan Singh appeared in one Test, against New Zealand in Auckland in 1990 and a solitary ODI against Australia at Hamilton. Gurscharan plied his trade in first-class cricket for 15 years and holds a world record of four catches while fielding as the 12th man in Ahmedabad Test against the West Indies in 1984.

He amassed 4,053 runs at an average of 46.70 from 71 games with 12 centuries and 21 half-centuries.
