Mumbai:Former India captain Nari Contractor has withdrawn from the race for the vice-president's post at the Mumbai Cricket Association elections slated to be held on Wednesday.

Contractor, who was cleared by MCA president Sharad Pawar to contest the hustings had his desire to contest the elections shrouded in controversy.

The 72-year-old's nomination was rejected by the scrutiny officer on Thursday since his name was seconded by former MCA secretary Mayank Khandwalla, considered a MCA defaulter.
