Colombo:Sri Lankan cricket authorities have assured clubs that it will continue to promote the game at domestic level and asserted that it would renegade on funds at any point of time.

This assurance was given at a meeting of Sri Lanka Cricket's tournament committee and club captains here.

Roshan Abeysinghem, chairman of the tournament committee described the meeting as hugely fruitful.

"We sought the views of clubs on reaching a tournament of excellence and decided to work on policy and principles. We want to have the best tournament structure we can put in place," Abeysinghe said.

Abeysinghe further said that the clubs had agreed that Sri Lanka Cricket, which is the elected body to run the affairs of the game, would continue to support cricket in the interest of the nation.
