PCB forms national pool of players

Lahore:In bid to form a solid back-up of players for the national team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a national talent pool of players as a back up for the national senior team.

According to PCB sources, the pool will comprise three categories. The 'A' category would make up of national players, the majority of whom were under central contract.

The fringe players knocking at the doors of Test cricket are being placed in category 'B' and the Under-19 players are clubbed in Group 'C'.

In another siginficant first, the board is going to maintain medical records of all first class players.

On the fitness front, the board's fitness trainer Grant Compton would conduct fitness programmes of category 'B' and category 'C' players so that they can be up to Test level.
