Karachi:Even as the three-man selection committee headed by former Pakistan wicketkeeper Wasim Bari meet on Monday to pick the side for the tour of the West Indies, young batsman Bazid Khan, son of former Pakistan captain Majid Khan has emerged as a dark horse for a berth in the tour party.

Bazid who is currently in Zimbabwe with the Pakistan 'A' team, has been in rich vein of form of late and seems to have attracted the attention of the selectors.

Bazid had a highly successful time with the Pakistan 'A' team on their tour of Sri Lanka and his exploits in the season 2004-05 could see him getting a call-up.

On the bowling front, seamer Umar Gul is unlikely to make the cut unless something happens dramatically.

Speed merchant Shoaib Akhtar could be the talking point at the selection committee meeting but it remains to be seen whether the star paceman makes it to the Carribean jaunt. As of now insiders say Shoaib has a fifty-fifty chance of making it.

Fellow Shabbir Ahmed has come off well after a long injury lay-off and should be on the plane to the West Indies.

However, doubts still persist over the availability of speedster Mohammad Sami. Sami is yet to come out in the open about his recovery and his chances of getting picked are dim. Having said that, the selectors may still include him.

Veteran wickeeper Moin Khan is another player who would be under serious consideration notwithstanding the superb showing of Kamran Akmal on the tour of India.

Moin has been in vintage form in the recent past and has slammed five centuries this season. More importantly, his vast experience may just tilt the scales in his favour.
