"Yes, I have applied for the post. I had sent the application to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through a certain source," said the genial Jones, from Abu Dhabi where he is doing commentary for the tsunami charity tri-series.
However, Jones was quick to add that BCCI hasn't called him for an interview despite receiving his application.
"They (BCCI) have said that they were in the process of constituting a committee for selecting the coach," he said. "If they call me it's fine, otherwise I will continue to do commentary."
Jones is the fourth Australian after former skipper Greg Chappell, Dav Whatmore and Tom Moody whose names are doing the rounds for the high profile coach's job which fell vacant following the end of John Wright's tenure.
