Stuart Carlisle named Zimbabwe ~~A~~ captain

Harare:Former Zimbabwe skipper Stuart Carlisle received a further boost to his international career when he was named the captain of the Zimbabwe 'A' side that takes on touring Pakistan 'A' beginning Friday.

Zimbabwe 'A' would play two four-day matches and three One-day games.

The team coached by former international Kevin Curran, would have Blessing Mawhire as his Carlisle's deputy.

Carlisle, who is one of the experienced batsman to have played at the international level for Zimbabwe, last turned out for the national side against Bangladesh last year at Queens Sports Club when he thumped his second Test century in a drawn game.

The upcoming series would also mark the return of Douglas Marrillier, who had hung up his international cricket boots in 2002 but not before proving India's nemesis when he smacked the fifth fastest half-century to facilitate a stirring one wicket win over India in March 2002.

The selectors have rested include national captain and gloveman Tatenda Taibu, Dion Ebrahim, Hamilton Masakadza, Prosper Utseya, Christopher Mpofu and Heath Streak who is currently at English county side Warwickshire.

Craig Wishart, who is indisposed, has also been rested.

Seamer Douglas Hondo, all-rounder Andy Blignaut, batsman Barney Rogers have been sidelined because of injuries.
