Melbourne:The crisis enveloping Victorian cricket deepened further when it was learnt that fast bowler Shane Harwood may not get a new contract for the next season.

The 31-year-old fast bowler, who is playing for St Anne's Cricket Club in England's northern league, shot into prominence in 2002-03 with a sensational hat-trick on debut against Tasmania.

The quickie has been riddled by a series of injuries over the past one year. He sustained a broken thumb, a stomach muscle problem and a fractured cheekbone.

Harwood appeared in only 15 Pura Cup matches, and sources close to Victorian cricket authorities say that Harwood is unlikely to be offered a new contract for the 2005-06 season.
