"There is nothing like that. There is no truth in such reports," BCCI President Ranbir Singh Mahendra told PTI here when asked to comment on media reports this evening that the BCCI has sent a letter to Border offering the post of coach.
Mahendra, as well as Board Secretary S K Nair, pointed out that the committee to appoint a coach was only set up today and the members were yet to meet and discuss the names.
Besides Mahendra and Nair, former Board President Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sunil Gavaskar, S Venkatraghavan and Ravi Shastri were the other members of the committee.
The committee was to shortlist the candidates and recommend the names for the post and the final decision to be taken by the BCCI's Working Committee which was likely to meet later this month.
The first meeting of the committee was to be held in Kolkata on Sunday.
Former Australian cricketers Dean Jones, Greg Chappell and Tom Moody are among those interested for the post.
Border's name, who stepped down as Australia's national selector, has cropped up only recently.
