Hampshire laps up Craig McMillan

London:Flamboyant New Zealand middle-order batsman Craig McMillan has been lapped by Hampshire on a short-term contract.

The seasoned cricketer, who has appeared in 55 Test matches and 162 limited-overs internationals, will replace Australian southpaw Simon Katich who will be part of the Australian touring party to England for the Ashes series.

McMillan will make his Hampshire debut on May 30 in the totesport League match against Northants at The Rose Bowl.

McMillan will be with Hampshire till end of July and is expected to leave the county after the scherduled totesport League tie against Worcestershire on July 26 to prepare himself for Black Caps tour of Zimbabwe in August.

New Zealand are slated to play two Tests and feature in a triangular One-day series alongside hosts Zimbabwe and India.
