Tailender Asif bats Pakistan ~~A~~ to close victory

Harare:Pakistan 'A' bowler Mohammad Asif did the star turn to help the visitors earn a hard-fought three wicket victory over Zimbabwe 'A' in the opening four day game at the CFX Cricket Academy here.

Asif, who reaped a rich haul of four for 51 in Zimbabwe 'A's second innings, hung in gamely and put a price tag on his batting, scoring a invaluable unbeaten 22 under tense circumstances to spur his side home after the visitors had slipped to 134 for seven at stumps on day three.

The tourists were set 157 for victory after Zimbabwe 'A' were bowled out for 235 in their second innings.

Earlier, Pakistan 'A' were well served by Ashar Zaidi(43) and Faisal Athar(46) as the duo laid a firm platform.

The visitors were cruising along nicely at 106 at one when calamity struck.

Zimbabwe 'A' spinner Graeme Cremer triggered the slide and was later joined in the destruction act by Tawanda Mupariwa as they shared six wickets between them.

First innings centurion Hasan Raja failed to tick as he perished for five.
