Kathmandu:Emirates Cricket Board marched into the semifinals of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Intercontinental Cup tournament when they spiked the guns of hosts Nepal here.

Needing to score minimum 74 runs in their second essay, Emirates just about contrived to do that before being packed out for 76 in 10 overs which enabled them to cull half point, enough to push Nepal out of the semifinal reckoning.

Nepal, who took 123-run first innings lead, declared second innings at 125 for six, setting ECB victory target of 249.

ECB, who needed just to score 74 in second innings to edge out Nepal as they logged enough points after chalking up an outright victory over Hong Kong in previous match at home.

This is the second successive time ECB have made it to semifinals of the championship that is meant to give exposure to fast track countries in longer version of game.

The ECB will join three other qualifiers in last four stage to be played in Namibia from October 23 next.
