Bangla board inks Mirpur stadium deal

Dhaka:After much delay, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finally inked a contract with Bashat Architects and Engineers, the firm, which had won the bid to undertake renovation of the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium here.

According to BCB sources, the bidding process was carried out in a fair manner.

Nine prospective bidders has been short-listed and a local construction firm-the Bashat Architects and Engineers had won the bid to carry out renovation on the Mirpur stadium.

The BCB officials are optimistic that the stadium will be up and ready before a home series against Sri Lanka in February next year.

The stadium project would have all the modern amenities like a swimming pool, gymnasium, and change room for players. A museum, food gallery and luxury suite for VIP spectator are also going to set up in the stadium premises.

The seating capacity of the stadium is expected to be around fifty five thousand.
