Dubai:The latest rage in cricket, the Twenty20 matches, will begin in the United Arab Emirates with the Sharjah Cricket Council launching the Twenty20 Cricket Cup later this month.

The event, to be played under lights, will be run on the same playing conditions as laid down by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

The bowlers will be restricted to bowling four overs with one run penalty for wides and no-balls. No-balls could also result in a free hit to the batsmen.

The AJ Sports Twenty20 Cup will attract 24 teams on first come first serve basis. Matches will be played in coloured clothing and white ball.

Attractive prizes will be on offer for the best batsmen, best bowler and player of the tournament open to A and B division teams. Two overseas players shall be permitted to play in each team.
