Kolkata:Tracing India's poor show against Pakistan in the recent series to the below-par performance of the bowlers, cricketing legend Steve Waugh today suggested that former international Javagal Srinath be appointed as the bowling coach of the side.

"One reason for India being hot and cold in the series may be that the bowlers did not deliver the goods," he said.

Taking the example of Pathan, who did wonderfully well in earlier tours but could not repeat his magic in the series, Waugh said "there were injuries in the bowling department. I think in the circumstances, Srinath could be considered as a bowling coach."

Waugh, however, said that he had followed the Test series closely, and found it very competitive.
