London:Unheralded Mickey Arthur has emerged as a frontrunner to replace Ray Jennings as South Africa's new coach.

The Sunday Telegraph carried a report which said that 36-year-old Arthur, who is currently the head coach of the Eastern Cape Warriors, is tipped to outsmart several high-profile candidates for the job.

It's worth recalling that leading names like Steve Waugh, Tom Moody and Geoff Marsh were linked to the job.

Present incumbent-Ray Jennings' whose six-month contract expired on 15 May, has had a fairly good run during his six months in charge.

In 13 Test matches he has been in the saddle as coach, South Africa have won five, lost three and drew five matches while his stint in ODIs as coach is equally impressive. South Africa have lost only one tie in 13 One-day internationals.
