Dhaka:In a development that could be music to the ears of the first-class cricketers in the country, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to pay match fee to all the participating cricketers in the just-concluded sixth National Cricket League.

According to BCB sources, the board's advisory committee ratified the proposal put forward by cricket operations committee of shelling out remuneration for the first time in a bid to bring professionalism in the domestic competition.

Bangladesh domestic cricketers had been a disgruntled lot over the years. They receive a poor amount for travel and dining allowances and surely the latest board should see the smiles back on the faces of the cricketers.

It is learnt that the BCB would have to cough up Tk. 25 lakh for this purpose and has initiated steps to land sponsors for all six participating divisions of the competition in the next season as it would enable to increase the cricketers' earnings.

The cricketers will receive the payment in four categories: Tk 10,000 (1-5 matches), Tk 15,000 (6-12), Tk 20,000 (13-20) and Tk 25,000 (21-30).
