Playing against Socials at the NRA turf who have Ranji trophy off-spinner C Raghu and left-arm spinner Raghavendra in their ranks, Bharath Chipli completely dominated the proceedings blasting a chanceless double-century which included six huge sixes and 24 well struck fours and came off 233 deliveries in 294 minutes.
Chipli shared an opening stand of 220 runs with the Karnataka batsman and wicketkeeper Thilak Naidu who scored 90 with the help of 13 fours and a six.
Deepak Chougule joined him in the middle at the fall of Sudhir Rao's wicket and this young pair added another 131 runs and during the course of this partnership Chipli completed his double-century with a six over extra covers off leg-spinner V Srinivas before holing out at deep covers after scoring 209.
However, there was no respite for the Socials bowlers as Deepak Chougule and Puru Raj Singh Rathore took Swastic Union CC past the Socials score of 348 to gain the first innings lead and three points.
Deepak Chougule had 18 crisp boundaries in his unbeaten knock of 104. Chougule and Puru Raj put on 71 runs for the fifth wicket without being separated.
Earlier, Socials who had elected to bat were precariously placed at 42 for three before skipper Sudhindra Shinde (106), Rajshekhar Shanbal (72) and M K Manjunath (56) retrieved the situation and helped Socials put up 348 before being all out in the 74th over.
Left-arm spinner Santosh Vadeyaraj was the most successful bowler with 4 for 94 while medium pacer Rakesh Bhadrapur and off-spinner Deepak Chougule picked up two each.
