Asian under-15 cubs draw tour game

Karachi:The touring select Asian Under-15 team hung on gamely for a brave draw with the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA)-Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Combined Under-15 team in an absorbing two-day fixture that concluded at the KCCA Stadium here.

Making first use of the wicket, the KCCA-KPT Combined Under-15 piled up a healthy 301 runs off their allotted 60 overs in the first innings. Haafiz Asad topscored with a fine 100 while skipper Hamza Ishtiaq chipped in with a solid 72.

For Asia under-15, medium-pacers Irfan Ahmed and M Kasman took two wickets apiece.

Up against a formidable first innings score, Dipen Shreshta provided the Asia Under-15 side a perfect start slamming a brilliant 104 but after his dismissal they lost their way and were packed out for 189 in exactly 60 overs.

Saad Azeem and Ahsan Khan were the most successful KCCA-KPT Combined Under-15 bowlers sharing four wickets between them.

Having gained a first innings lead of 112 runs, KCCA-KPT Combined's second essay started on a disastrous note as they slipped to 26 for four. First Innings centurion Haafiz Asad came good once again as he solidified the innings hitting an unbeaten 52 as the home side declared its second innings at 91 for four.

Set 204 runs for victory off 45 overs, Asia Under-15s were pushed on the backfoot as they wobbled to 104 for six.

James Atkinson and Navtej Singh however, strung together a solid stand to save their blushes as they sneaked home to a dogged draw. Atkinson was not out on 24 while Navtej Singh was unconquered on 52.
