Ntini named South Africa Cricketer of the Year

Johannesburg:Paceman Makhaya Ntini has been named as South Africa's Cricketer of the Year for his stellar performances over the last 12 months at an awards function, held at Kyalami.

There was more glory for him as he won two further awards-the Test Cricketer of the Year and the Player's Player of the Year.

Ntini snared 58 wickets from 14 games between July 2004 and May 2005.

Among other awards, skipper Graeme Smith was declared the ODI Cricketer of the Year after he smashed four centuries and scored 840 runs from 19 matches.

Top-order batsman Jacques Kallis, earned the Fans' Cricketer of the Year, while AB de Villiers was named Newcomer of the Year.
