Harare:Faisal Iqbal slammed a brilliant unbeaten 85 to spur Pakistan 'A' to a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Zimbabwe 'A' in the opening One-dayer of the three match series, at the Mutare Sports Club ground here.

Faisal looked the part as he dictated terms to the Zimbabwe bowling attack stitching a solid 164 runs fifth-wicket stand with skipper Misbah-ul-Haq as the visitors made shortwork of chasing 256 for victory after they were in a spot of bother at a shaky 95 for four.

Faisal's knock of 85 came from 83 balls and included seven fours and two sixes.Skipper Misbah playing the second fiddle role admirably notching an unbeaten 63 from 85 deliveries, studded with two fours and two sixes.

Earlier, making first use of the wicket after having winning the toss, Zimbabwe 'A' posted a healthy score of 255 in 49.2 overs.

Skipper Stuart Carlisle finally came good after a slew of low-scores in the two unoffical Tests, stroking an enterprising 92.

Mark Vermuelen weighted in with 35 while 18-year-old south-paw Sean Williams made a blazing 39 from only 35 deliveries. Williams belted four boundaries and a six.

Leg-spinner Mansoor Amjad, who did the star-turn in Pakistan 'A's 2-0 clean sweep of the two-match unofficial Test series, and medium-pacer Ashar Zaidi shared the spoils snaffling six wickets between them.

Brief Scores: Zimbabwe 'A': 255 all out (49.2 overs). Pakistan 'A' 259/4 (42.3 overs).
