London:South African all-rounder Justin Kemp is to join Kent as the English County's second overseas player.

Kemp, 27, has played for South Africa in three Tests and twenty four One-day Internationals and was one of the Springboks leading run scorers in the One-day series against England earlier this year.

"At this stage in my career it is important that I continue to play competitive cricket at the highest level," said Kemp.

Kent's chairman of cricket Graham Johnson said: "When we learnt that Justin was available and keen to play for Kent for the rest of the season we realised we had the opportunity to add a player who can significantly contribute with bat, ball and in the field in all forms of cricket."

South Africa batsman Martin van Jaarsveld is Kent's other overseas player.
