Wellington:Former Auckland all-rounder Bill Fowler has emerged as a favourite to be inducted as a new member on the New Zealand selection panel.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC), which had earlier rejected the application of former Kiwi star Martin Crowe, is expected to name Fowler on the panel even as they prepare to announce a four-member panel next month.

Two of the present members on the panel-Sir Richard Hadlee, and Black Caps coach John Bracewell are likely to be retained while former opener Glenn Turner is set to replace Brian McKechnie with the fourth slot likely to go to Fowler.
