Trinidad Govt gives go-ahead for Brian Lara stadium

Port Of Spain :Champion batsman Brian Lara has towered over the cricket field like a colossus.

He is enjoys an icon status not just in his home-town Port Of Spain but also all across the globe.

In recognition of his contribution towards West Indian cricket, the Trinidad and Tobago Government has given the go-ahead for the development of a 850 million US dollars Elite Sports and Training Centre, named after the batting super star.

Trinidad minister of sport and youth affairs Roger Boynes gave the green signal at a cabinet meeting in Port of Spain recently.

The construction of the Brian Lara Stadium, which would have a 10-15,000 seating capacity, would begin within next month.

The Brian Lara Stadium will be used as one of the venues for warm-up matches for the 2007 World Cup slated to be held there.
