KIOC romps home in five categories in Tata Cup

Bangalore:Opener CM Gautham (95, 15 fours) and leg-spinner Suhas Kale helped hosts Karnataka Institute of Cricket XI (KIOC) beat Mishra Sports C A New Delhi by six wickets in the All India Inter Camp Tata Coffee tournament held at the Central College grounds in Bangalore.

Batting first, the Delhi side got off to a good start but lost Nishanth Sharma for 39. Parvesh joined Vivek Mishra in the middle and the pair put on a hundred-run partnership. However, leg-spinner Suhas Kale who was brought into the attack a bit too late got rid of Vivek and Parvesh in quick succession and finished with 4 for 16 from his six overs.

At the other end, off-spinner Ryan Ninan picked three wickets and Mishra Sports slid from a healthy 139 for one to 171 all out. The highlight of KIOC fielding was an excellent display behind the stumps by wicketkeeper Nihal Alva who affected five stumpings and took an excellent catch.

Under 19;

Mishra Sports New Delhi 171 all out in 29.5 overs (Vivek Mishra 72, Parvesh 51, Onien Jaisingh 25, Suhas Kale 4 for 16, Ryan Ninan 3 for 27) lost to KIOC XI 172 for 4 in 26.2 overs (Gautham C M 95, Darshan K V 39, Salman 22, Onien Jaisingh 2 for 21) by 8 wickets.

In the Under 17 group, Darshan K V (102 not out, 10 fours) and Manish Pandey (114 not out, 10 fours) scored hundreds as KIOC XI comprehensively beat Rosebud School of Cricket, West Bengal.

Under 17;

KIOC XI 242 for 1 in 30 overs (Darshan K V 102 not out, Manish Pandey 114 not out) beat Rosebud School Of Cricket, West Bengal 137 all out in 27.5 overs ( Sreevats 31, Prateek Agarwal 22,Nishanth Singh Shekhawat 3 for 23 , Abrar 2 for19, Suhas 2 for 24&Vishnu 3 for 11) by 105 runs.

In the Under 15 category, KIOC defeated Rising Star C A Hyderabad by six wickets to clinch the title.

Under 15;

Rising Star C A Hyderabad 158 all out in 29 overs (Phani 32, Nitesh 24, Anirudh 26, Nishant 4 for 25, Shivam 4 for 11) lost to KIOC XI 159 for 4 in 27 overs ( Nishanth 53, Sudhakar 2 for 19) by 6 wickets.

Haryana Cricket Academy won the Juniors title convincingly defeating the hosts KIOC XI by 98 runs.


Haryana Cricket Academy 242 for 5 wickets in 30 overs (Deepak Sherawat 72, Rajat 37, Devender Lochak 44, Kunal 38, Vignesh 2 for 50, Pawan 2 for 40) beat KIOC XI 144 for 9 in 30 overs (Dinesh Borwankar 29, Satish 28, Hitesh 4 for 27, Rajat Paliwal 3 for 25&Deepak Sherawat 3 for 22) by 98 runs.

Rising Star Cricket Academy, Hyderabad has won the Sub Juniors championship beating hosts KIOC XI by five wickets in the finals.

Sub- Juniors;

KIOC XI 200 for 5 in 30 overs (Manik Nath 66, Nirmal S 61, Ahmed Nathani 22 not out) lost to Rising Star Cricket Academy, Hyderabad 201 for 5 in 29.3 overs ( Akram 51, Manoj 41, Gopendar 48 not out) by 5 wickets.
