Islamabad:Sri Lanka's wicketkeeper-batsman Kumara Sangakkara is all set to replace injured Sachin Tendulkar in the Asian XI that will play three Limited Overs matches against a World XI in Houston in mid-June.

"Tendulkar has been ruled out because of his recent elbow operation and it is a big setback for us. But we have managed to sign on Kumara Sangakkara as his replacement," Pakistan's local daily The News quoted Hasan Jalil, co-ordinator of Cricket World International Inc (CWI), the organisers of the series, as saying.

The other Indian players in the Asian XI are Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan.

Only two players from the current Sri Lankan squad - Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawerdene - will be part of the Asian squad.

It is worth recalling that the Indian master blaster who had undergone a surgery for tennis elbow in London last week, had been advised complete rest which ruled him out of action for at least four months.
