Islamabad:Pakistan ace middle-order batsman Yousuf Youhana would undergo a surgery on his right shoulder to get rid of a chronic problem that had been plaguing him for the last couple of years.

The 29-year-old batsman who returned from the West Indies tour after figuring in the three-match One-day series to attend to his ailing father, experienced great difficulty in gripping the bat or making throws from the deep but kept playing to meet the team requirements.

Younis underwent two MRIs and an ultrasound in Lahore last week which had shown that he had developed muscle and tissue ruptures in his right shoulder, which required immediate repair.

The silky right-handed batsman is expected to appear before the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical panel later this week to discuss his injury following which the panel may recommend measures for surgery and rehabilitation.
