Wellington:New Zealand opening batsman Mathew Sinclair is cogitating a short-term switch to England after failing to secure a central contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC).

The right-handed is mulling whether to play abroad or stay at home and continue turning out for his club side Central Districts.

Sinclair has appeared in 25 Tests and amassed 1365 runs at a healthy average of 36.89 with a Test best of 214 against West Indies at Wellington in 1999.

He has also figured in 45 One-day Internationals for the Black Caps.
