International XI sends MCC XI to bat at Lord~~s

Lord's:International XI eleven skipper Brian Lara won the toss and put Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) XI to bat first at Lord's in the 50-over tsunami appeal match.

The two teams for the match are drawn from eight of the Test playing nations although England and Bangladesh do not have any representatives as they are preparing for the upcoming One-day series, while Shane Warne is Australia's sole player as he is not involved with their One-day squad.

The match is the second appeal match to be staged.

In January an Asian XI took on a World XI in Melbourne in front of more than 70,000 people.

International XI BC Lara (captain) V Sehwag, ST Jayasuriya, GC Smith, R Dravid (wk), S Chanderpaul, CL Cairns, SK Warne, WPUJC Vaas, Mohammad Sami, M Ntini.

MCC XI SP Fleming (captain), CH Gayle, S Ganguly, V V S Laxman, J Kallis, A Flower, KC Sangakkara (wk), SM Pollock, A Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Shoaib Akhtar.

Umpires : DB Hair and JW Holder.

TV Umpire : N T Plews.
