Central Zone claims Hemu Adhikari trophy

Bangalore:Central Zone clinched the Col. Hemu Adhikari Trophy inter-academy tournament for the third time on the trot edging past NCA under-17 XI by 249 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here.

Central Zone resumed from their bedtime position of 283 for seven and were shot out for 329 in its second innings, thus setting NCA under-17 XI a target of 402 to win in 67 overs.

The NCA under-17 XI's second innings was well served by skipper and opener Sunny Sohal, who notched a pugnacious 65 from 89 balls, studded with nine boundaries and two sixes.

Once Sohail perished, NCA under-17 XI endured a dramatic collapse and were bowled out for a niggardly 152 off 52.3 overs.

Anand Rajan was the most successful Central Zone bowlers claiming three for 33.

Brief Scores: Central Zone 265 (111.3 overs) and 329 (113.3 overs) bt NCA Under-17 XI: 193 (62.2 overs) and 152 (51.3 overs).
