Hobart:Former Tasmania player Tim Coyle has been named new coach of the Tasmanian Tigers.

Coyle, who served as Tasmania's game development manager for the past four years, beat off stiff opposition from various interstate candidates and overseas, including former Aussie bowler Greg Campbell, to land the job.

He supplants Brian McFadyen.

It may be noted that Coyle had presented coaching programs and courses for the West Indies Cricket Board in Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana and for the Asian Cricket Council in Singapore.

He has also coached the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Institute Challenge Cricket Team, the Tasmanian Indigenous and State second X1 teams, and was the specialist fielding and wicketkeeping coach for the Tigers from 2002 to 2005.
